Written by Camille Fontaine herself, the story gets under way with Amra and Lyes, two young Algerians who have been living in France for the last five years. Amra has applied for her papers, while Lyes is living there illegally. One evening, while clumsily fumbling for her mobile phone, Amra runs over a pedestrian while driving her car; however, she sees nothing of what actually happened during the accident. Driven to despair, as she thinks this means she will no longer be able to get her papers, her name is cleared at just the right moment by Angélique, who witnessed the incident and saw that the pedestrian threw himself under the wheels of her car. The two young women then become friends. But Angélique’s attitude gradually gets stranger and stranger... even to the point of being disturbing.

Produced by Marie Masmonteil and Denis Carot for Elzévir Films, Par accident is benefitting particularly from a co-production by France 3 Cinéma and from backing by the PACA (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur) region, where the seven-week shoot will take place. International sales are still being negotiated, and distribution in France will be handled by Ad Vitam.

Elzevir Films is currently riding the crest of a very powerful wave, as the Paris-based company recently produced Party Girl [+see also:
