Written by Elie Wajeman together with Gaëlle Macé, the story delves into the past, transporting us to Paris in 1899. Police sergeant Jean Mayer, a poor orphan, is picked to infiltrate a group of anarchists. For him it represents the opportunity to rise up the ranks. However, after being forced to make constant compromises, he becomes increasingly divided. On one hand, he delivers his police reports to Gaspard, his superior, but on the other, he also starts to develop ever more deeply rooted feelings for the group...

Produced by Lola Gans for 24 Mai Production, Les anarchistes is co-produced by France 2 Cinéma and Mars Films (which has also acquired the French and international distribution rights). Having been pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, the film is also benefitting from support coming from such sources as the CNC’s advance on receipts and backing from the Ile-de-France region, where the entirety of the shoot will take place; filming is due to wrap on 6 February 2015.
