It’s the director’s first film for the big screen since A boire (2004). She previously directed Nobody Loves Me (nominated for a Cesar for best first film in 1995), Love, etc. (nominated for a Cesar for best actress in 1996), Empty Days (in the competition in Venice in 1999), and A Hell of a Day (selected for the Cinema of the Present section at the Venice Film Festival in 2001).

Written by Marion Vernoux and Fanny Chesnel and adapted from a novel by the latter, Une jeune fille aux cheveux blancs (lit. “A young girl with white hair”), the screenplay follows Caroline, who has just retired. Are these the good days? It's all she has to look forward to: free time, free time, and more free time. Is this the good life? It’s not so simple... How does one re-invent it all? Does one break the rules, provoke new encounters, or simply fill in one’s diary? Or is everything she needs already there...

Produced by Les Films du Kiosque (François Kraus and Denis Pineau-Valencienne who, among other films, also produced Maïwenn’s two first features) and 27.11 Production (Juliette Favreul Renaud), Les beaux jours is being made on a budget of €3.5m, notably from pre-acquisitions by Canal+ and Orange Cinéma séries, aid from the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region via the CRRAV, as well as support from Sofica Hoche Images and La Banque Postale Images 6. Shooting should be ongoing until September 25, notably in Paris and Dunkerque. Le Pacte is handling the film’s distribution in France and international sales.
