), the story centres around 19-year-old Naëlle who harbours a passion for street art, but who finds herself forced to attend a rehabilitation course in the company of various other youngsters. It’s her last chance to avoid being separated from her family. Moved by the young woman’s plight, project leader Hélène introduces her one day to Nantes’ Maison des Compagnons, home to a world of traditions which advocates artisanal excellence and the handing down of skills through generations. Working alongside Paul, a stained glass artist who agrees to take her on as an apprentice in his studio, Naelle discovers a whole new universe with codes entirely different from her own... a world which, despite its challenges, could lend new meaning to her life.

Produced by Romain Brémond and Daniel Preljocaj on behalf of Soyouz Films, The Companions is co-produced by France 2 Cinéma and Wild Bunch (who will also take charge of French distribution). Pre-purchased by Canal+, Ciné+ and C8, the feature film also enjoys the support of the Pays de la Loire region, where the seven-week film shoot unfolded, having kicked off on 25 June in Nantes. International sales will be steered by Elle Driver.
