After a short break, Thomas Vinterberg has resumed the filming of his upcoming drama, Another Round [+see also:

. Shooting commenced in early May and will now continue until the end of July in Copenhagen and northern Zealand before moving to Sweden and the Västra Gotäland region. This is Vinterberg’s first Danish-language film since The Commune [+see also:

, and the director is reuniting with many of his acclaimed star actors, including Mads Mikkelsen, who toplines the cast.

Mikkelsen plays the role of secondary-school teacher Martin, who, along with his three friends and colleagues (played by Thomas Bo Larsen, Lars Ranthe and Magnus Millang), decides to look into a theory that claims that alcohol in the blood opens the mind to the outside world, makes problems less acute and increases creativity. And so the four friends try out an experiment and are thus constantly intoxicated in their everyday lives. The initial results are quite encouraging, as the gang loosens up, which also intrigues their students. Nevertheless, as the experiment progresses, the consequences start to become more and more severe.

Apart from Mikkelsen, who was also the main star in Vinterberg’s The Hunt [+see also:

, the director is working once again with Larsen and Ranthe, who also starred in that same film, and Susse Wold, who is playing her first role since then as the principal of the school. Also, Millang acted in Vinterberg’s previous film, Kursk [+see also:

. Helene Reingaard Neumann is playing his wife, Amalie, while Swedish-Norwegian star Maria Bonnevie is playing Mikkelsen’s wife.

The director is not only reteaming with his cast, but he’s also collaborating once again with his regular scriptwriter, Tobias Lindholm, who co-penned Another Round with Vinterberg. Their collaboration dates back to 2010 with Submarino [+see also:

and The Hunt, as well as The Commune.

Another Round is being produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Kasper Dissing for Denmark’s Zentropa Entertainments3, and is being co-produced by Sweden’s Film i Väst, Zentropa Sweden, the Netherlands’ Topkapi Films and Zentropa Netherlands. It has received support from the Danish Film Institute, TV2 Denmark, Eurimages, the Netherlands Film Fund, the Swedish Film Institute, the Netherlands Film Production Incentive and the Creative Europe MEDIA programme. The Danish theatrical release is expected for 27 August 2020, courtesy of Nordisk Film Distribution, which will also handle the releases in the rest of the Nordic region, while TrustNordisk is dealing with the international sales.
