by

Emilio Aragón has enjoyed success and popular acclaim in almost all areas of the entertainment world, having worked as a television presenter and actor, series creator, producer, humorist, manager, musician, clown and screenwriter. All that remained was for him to try his hand at film directing and on Monday, March 2, he began production on Pájaros de Papel (“Paper Birds”), which is destined to be one of the major Spanish films of 2010.

Shooting will last until May 8 in Madrid, Chinchón, Tembleque, Colmenar de Oreja and Almagro, which will be the main setting for the story.

).

Co-written by Aragón and Fernando Castets, the film is set in postwar Spain and recounts the adventures of a troupe of music-hall artists. The story centres in particular on a strange and unusual family made up of comedian-musician Jorge Del Pino, ventriloquist-musician Enrique and ten-year-old Miguel, who is the son and grandson of artists. They are accompanied by cabaret singer Rocío Moliner and young dancer Merceditas.

Pájaros de Papel is produced by Versátil Cinema (who are also co-producing Isabel Coixet’s new film, Map of the Sounds of Tokyo - see news) and Antena 3 Films.
