Co-written by Laurent Zeitoun, Jérémy Doner and Yoann Gromb, the film centres on Daniel (Duris), a professional couple-wrecker. His sister (Ferrier) and brother-in-law (Damiens) are partners in this lucrative activity, which nonetheless has one golden rule: Daniel only agrees to get involved with women who are unhappy in marriage and love, whose close relations want to open their eyes to their situation.

But a father who hates his future son-in-law hires Daniel one week before the marriage he wants to prevent at all costs. In need of money, the heartbreaker agrees to abandon his "code of ethics” and seduce a young woman who is completely fulfilled in her relationship. Worse still, he ends up being the one seduced.

Produced by Quad Films, Heartbreaker has co-production backing from Script Associés, a pre-sale from Orange Cinéma Séries and backing from three Sofica funds: Cinemage, Banque Populaire Images and A Plus Image.

The shoot kicked off on June 5 with a week in Morocco, has now relocated to Monaco for four weeks and will wrap up on August 5 after three weeks in Paris. The film will be released domestically by Universal in spring 2010, while international sales are being handled by Kinology.

Among Quad’s other productions are Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache’s So Happy Together [+see also:
