Telmo Churro, director of the 2013 short film Rei Inútil, is developing his debut feature length film, titled Índia. The project, produced by O Som e a Fúria, is now in post-production.

The script, written by Telmo Churro and Mariana Ricardo, tells the story of Tiago (Pedro Inês), a tour guide who is going through heartache. The protagonist lives with his father, Raul (José Manuel Mendes), and his son, Manuel (João Carvalho). Raul is an old nostalgic sailor haunted by historical defeats, whilst Miguel is a teenager who, in his own bubble, dreams about a lonesome erotic trip to the cosmos. Tiago, as a tour guide, leads Karen (Denise Fraga) on a trip through a Lisbon of strange suicidal heroes. Karen, a melancholic, grieving Brazilian tourist, has as her confidante a mailbox where she deposits letters to her late husband about tales of a past happy life. Raul joins Tiago and Karen, embarking on a journey through dreams, lost glories and catastrophes, searching for a long lost hero on an island in the south Atlantic. The cast includes Pedro Inês, Denise Fraga, José Manuel Mendes, João Carvalho, Lídia Franco, Maria João Pinho, Teresa Madruga and Maria Emília Correia.

Shot on 16mm in Lisbon, and produced by Luís Urbano and Sandro Aguilar, the film had Mário Castanheira as its director of photography, Pedro Filipe Marques as the editor and Mafalda Aleixo is responsible for colour grading. Sound direction and mixing was done by Miguel Martins. Índia received the Best Film Prize at Catapulta Cine - Primer Corte Awards ($5,000) at FICUNAM. The film has the financial support of ICA, with the participation of RTP and the support from Lisbon’s Municipality/Lisboa Film Commission. Currently in post-production, Índia is set to premiere in national theatres in 2022.
