“After a long time, with many things left along the way, including health issues, I have finally started filming my second film: La Pietá, the only thing I that interests me in life”, said the Director. “It is a totally unconventional horror movie, which deals with the most toxic relationship possible between a mother and her son, drawing a parallel between a dictator and the people, more specifically the dictatorship in North Korea. We have all been in a toxic relationship, it doesn’t matter whether it is a partner, a friend or a family member. Personal relationships are deeply complicated; I am sure that anyone reading this is, or has been in a relationship like this, but… how can you get out of it? And if you manage to get out, how, and for how long will you stay out?”.

La Pietá sets up a different aesthetic world to the one I usually film. Far from Nothing like the photo illustrating this news item, nothing like Skins, it’s not like anything else. It is something much darker; as dark as its characters”, concludes Casanova.

La Pietá is a Spanish-Argentinian co-production by Pokeepsie Films, Gente Seria AIE, Spal Films, Link-up and Crudo Films. It is due for release in 2022.
