Released in 2014, Vivian Goffette’s Yam Dam followed a rural vet whose comfortable and well-ordered life was turned upside down by the arrival of a young woman from Burkina Faso. In Les Poings Serrés, Goffette follows in the footsteps of Lucien, a young man who lives away from the world in a village in the Ardennes with his mother Cécile and his older brother. Concealing a dark secret, he avoids both human contact and questions in equal measure, but he does grow closer to Freddy, the father of his only friend Lies, spending his time in the former’s modest sawmill.
Everything changes, however, when Lucien’s grandmother dies and his father is granted temporary release from prison to attend her funeral. Seeing his father tearful, handcuffed and protected from the fury of the people by an impressive police escort is devastating for Lucien. He decides he wants to see his father again, despite the advice of those around him and at the risk of losing everything…
Playing the role of Lucien, we find a young man making his first screen appearance, Yanis Frish, who is supported by an impressive quartet of Belgian actors and actresses. Cécile will be played by the talented Lucie Debay, who is hitting screens in the autumn, toplining Ann Sirot and Raphaël Balboni’s first feature film Madly [+leggi anche:
