As the online Pre-Cannes Screenings are already in the starting blocks (from 21 to 25 June, exclusively for sellers and buyers, and without projections of the selected films during the 74th Festival de Cannes which will unfold on the Croisette from 6 to 17 July), the Marché du Film (whose traditional edition will take place from 6 to 15 July) has found a solution for professionals of certain countries unable to come to Cannes due to the current health restrictions.

In a health situation that is becoming more and more favourable in France (face masks are no longer mandatory outdoors starting today, and the curfew will be completely lifted on 20 June, ten days earlier than planned), the Marché du Film has stated that “The regulations allowing foreigners to travel to Cannes have just been published and will allow professionals from a large part of the world to participate in the Marché du Film. Europe will be the most represented continent, with already 50% of its usual attendance, and the number of American professionals is growing day by day and already represents more than 10% of the accredited. The Marché will offer more than 500 screenings in Cannes and has decided this year to also organize industry screenings in 5 major countries.” 

These screenings will be organised for buyers, distributors, streaming platforms and festival programmers in Melbourne (Cinema Palace Como), Mexico City (Cinepolis Diana), Beijing (French Institute Auditorium), Seoul (Art Nine) and Tokyo (The Film School of Tokyo and Eurolive) on 8 and 9 July, then from 12 to 16 July, the day after the official screening in Cannes.
