Featuring retrospectives dedicated to Taiwanese filmmaker Tsai Ming-Liang and artist/activist Marcelo Expósito (the latter entitled La imaginación radical) and sections including the International Competition, Ahora México, Aciertos (International Film Schools’ Congress) and Atlas, the 11th UNAM International Film Festival - FICUNAM is set to kick off online, with an expertly curated selection of over 100 films from 36 countries. Organised by the Metropolitan Autonomous University of Mexico City in association with the Cultural Promotion Office and the General Directorate for Cinema, the festival has the backing of eminent institutions including the Spanish Cultural Centre in Mexico, the French Institute of Latin America, the Goethe-Institut, Institut Ramón Llull, the Austrian Cultural Forum in Mexico, the Taiwanese Ministry of Culture and the Japan Foundation.

All of the festival’s activities are free of charge. Cinépolis Klic events will run for 36 hours and spots are limited; once the finish time is reached and/or the quota has been filled, it will no longer be possible to stream the content, which will be available only in Mexico. The MUBI platform is offering Mexican viewers 30 days’ free access on registration at mubi.com/ficunam. All films featured on the microsite Cine en línea de Filmoteca UNAM will be accessible internationally.
