scheda film] by Éric Gravel, but it’s been a long and arduous road given the health restrictions imposed. The second full-length picture put forth by the filmmaker (who made his name with Crash Test Aglaé [+leggi anche:

scheda film] in 2017) first ground to a halt in the pre-production phase in mid-March 2020 (with shooting planned for April) on account of the first lockdown in France, and then one week before filming was due to wrap, at the end of October, the second lockdown stymied the film (at a time when it needed to shoot crowd scenes). By the time the film’s lead actress Laure Calamy had delivered on another film commitment (Une femme du monde – read our article), the final six days of eight weeks of filming were at last fulfilled last week in the Paris region.

Written by the director himself, the story revolves around Julie who goes to great lengths to raise her two children in the countryside while keeping her job in a luxury Paris hotel. When she finally secures a job interview for a position she’d long been hoping for, a national strike breaks out, paralyzing the public transport system. The fragile balance that Julie had established is jeopardized. She sets off on a frantic race against time to stay afloat…

À plein temps is produced by Raphaelle Delauche and Nicolas Sanfaute for Novoprod (who previously paired up on Crash Test Aglaé) and co-produced by France 2 Cinéma. Pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature film also enjoys the support of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region and of the SOFICA company Palatine Etoile.
