Unfolding within the Industry Village of the 12th Les Arcs International Film Festival (unspooling online 20-22 January 2021, with juries meeting in person in Paris), the Talent Village (whose selected young filmmakers had also made their way to the French capital) and the Co-Production Village have now delivered their awards.

Decided upon by a jury composed of Florence Gastaud, Cécile Salin and Amos Geva, the T-Port Award for the Talent Village’s best project went to Paradise Bleeding by Germany’s Sabine Ehrl, a project which "offers a brave message about the society the filmmaker grew up in, bringing a level of energy and soul which can even be felt in these early stages of the project." Written by the director herself, the story plunges the viewer into a small fictitious town in Bavaria at Christmas time in the early 1990s. Formed of interwoven episodes following several different families, the film is an epic drama inspired by Catholicism and exploring desire, guilt, fear, trauma and murder. Whilst the supposedly beautiful, capitalist and Catholic surface remains the same, we see a love triangle end in an outburst of violence, teenage kids unexpectedly becoming parents and a broken woman suffering from the expectations laid at her door as a wife and mother…

by Delphine Girard (a director from Quebec, now living in Belgium), "an excellent first film, an excellent director and an excellent subject which she has already explored before in an excellent short film". Steered by Belgian group Versus Production (and written by the filmmaker), the movie will plunge viewers into the aftermath of a night of violence, where two women and a man wonder how to bring about justice and how to make amends.
