La serie Monster Loving Maniacs

On the occasion of its 101st session, held under such very special circumstances, Wallimage’s Walloon Regional Investment Fund is throwing its weight behind 8 new film projects, as well as 2 considerable animated series projects.

The first work supported by the fund is C’est de famille!, a debut feature film by young Belgian director Elodie Lélu, which follows in the footsteps of Manon, an introverted, 16-year-old teen who finds herself having to co-habit with her unbearable grandma Yvonne, a former militant feminist now unable to live alone. The situation intensifies when Yvonne becomes confused and starts to believe Manon is her daughter… Toplining the film, we find the likes of young Belgian actress Fantine Harduin (the heroine of Fabrice du Welz’s Adoration [+leggi anche:

) alongside Bouli Lanners and Hélène Vincent. The film is produced by Isabelle Truc on behalf of Iota Production (Belgium), and co-produced by A Private View (Belgium), Mille et Une Films (France) and Camara Oscura (Canada).

, a historical feature film directed by Clovis Cornillac, which is currently in the shooting stage having been adapted by Pierre Lemaître himself from his novel of the same name. , adapted several years ago by Albert Dupontel. The cast is impressive and sees Cornillac (who also plays a part in the film) homing his camera on Léa Drucker, Benoît Poelvoorde, Alice Isaaz, Olivier Gourmet, Jérémy Lopez, Alban Lenoir and Fanny Ardant. The film is produced by Gaumont (France) in co-production with La Compagnie (France) and Umedia (Belgium).

The third feature film shored up by the fund is a co-production between Macedonia and Belgium, overseen by Griselda Gonzalez Gentile on behalf of Be Revolution Pictures in the latter territory, and produced by Dardanian Film in the former. The work in question, Perhaps, is a very dark thriller helmed by Macedonian director Kastriot Abdyli (The Return).

The two animated series receiving support and bringing upwards of 13,000 days of work to the region, are Anna and Friends, a short format series aimed at young audiences, adapted from Anouk Ricard’s books and produced by Superprod in France, Atmosphère Media in Germany and Digital Graphics in Belgium, and Monster Loving Maniacs, a series presented at Cartoon Forum in 2019, initiated in Denmark by Ja Film and co-produced by Ginger Pictures (Belgium), Belvision (Belgium) et Submarine Animation (the Netherlands).

Last but not least, Wallimage is also subsidising 1985, a series co-produced by Belgium’s public networks VRT and RTBF, as well as two documentaries: Des corps et des batailles by Christophe Hermans, produced by Dérives and Frakas (Belgium), and Cherchez la femme by Julie Gavras, produced, for its part, by Iota Production (Belgium).
