The Czech short animated drama Daughter by Daria Kashcheeva, which scooped 38 gongs on the festival circuit and a Student Academy Award, as well as being nominated for the coveted Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, will be vying for the top prize as well.

The 27th edition of Febiofest Bratislava will also showcase Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir’s portrait of video-art pioneers Steina and Woody Vasulka, The Vasulka Effect (see the news), and the Czech-French portrait documentary about the titular Czech puppet maker, illustrator and film director, Jiří Trnka: A Long Lost Friend by French filmmaker Joël Farges.
