Written by Olivier Peyon and Cyril Brody (who co-wrote and co-directed Latifa: A Fighting Heart, and who co-wrote Stolen Holidays), the story revolves around Alexandra who works in a French bank in Tokyo. It’s 22 March 2011, a tsunami sets off the Fukushima disaster and Alexandra must contend with this nuclear crisis. Torn between the orders of her superiors and the need to protect her family, as well as her co-workers, Alexandra finds herself championing certain ideas about honour, almost unwillingly, at a time when fear and panic should be sweeping them away…

Produced by Kristina Larsen on behalf of the Parisian group Les Films du Lendemain, Tokyo Shaking benefits from co-productions signed with Wild Bunch and Belgian firm Scope Pictures. It has been pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+ and also enjoys the support of the Île-de-France region, as well as the SOFICA company Cinéventure. The six-week-film-shoot unfolding in Île-de-France and in Japan will wrap in March. Wild Bunch will handle French cinema distribution, whilst worldwide sales will be managed by Le Pacte.
