next year), Guilaine Londez, Sébastien Chassagne and Sarah Suco.

An adaptation by the filmmaker himself of the eponymous novel written by Fabrice Caro (better known under his successful comic book pen name Fabcaro), the story centres on a character called Adrien. "A family dinner, a napkin-holder in the shape of a cock and a discussion revolving around underfloor heating. Who hasn’t felt the need, in the middle of a dismal family dinner, to lose themselves in thought? Who hasn’t been put on “stand-by” and left fretfully waiting for a reconciliatory text? And who hasn’t experienced heightening angst at the idea of having to make a speech at a loved one’s wedding? This evening, for Adrien, is the ultimate nightmare; it ticks all the boxes."

Produced by Olivia Lagache on behalf of Les Films sur Mesure, The Speech is co-produced by France 2 Cinéma, Le Pacte (who will take charge of distribution in French cinemas) and Belgian group Scope Pictures. Pre-purchased by France 2, Canal+, Ciné+ and C8, the feature film also enjoys the support of the SOFICA companies La Banque Postale Image and Cineventure. International sales are headed up by Charades.
