), Iris Bry (The Guardians), Olivier Pequery and Madeleine Beauvois.

The story, written by Xavier Beauvois, Frédérique Moreau and Marie-Julie Maille (a trio who garnered a nomination for the César Award for Best Adaptation in 2018 for The Guardians), revolves around Laurent, the captain of a police squad in Etretat. He is planning to marry Marie, his partner and the mother of his daughter, nicknamed Poulette. He likes his job, despite inevitably coming into contact with social deprivation on a daily basis. As he attempts to save a farmer who is threatening to commit suicide, he accidentally kills him. His life is turned on its head...

Produced by Sylvie Pialat and Benoît Quainon for Les Films du Worso (who are teaming up with the director for the second film in a row), Drift Away will be co-produced by Pathé Films, Orange Studio, France 3 Cinéma and Belgium’s Scope Pictures. Having been pre-purchased by Canal+, Ciné+ and France Télévisions, the feature is also being backed by the CNC’s advance on receipts, by Normandie Images, and by the Sofitvciné, Cinécap, Indéfilms, Cinémage and Cinéventure Soficas. The nine-week shoot will take place from 14 October-20 December in Seine-Maritime (near Fécamp), with Julien Hirsch taking care of the cinematography (winner of the César Award in his category in 2007 for Lady Chatterley [+leggi anche:
