The celebratory tenth edition of the Odesa International Film Festival (OIFF, 12-20 July) is due to take place imminently, and the premier film event in Ukraine is all set to host its international guests on the coast of the Black Sea.

Last week, at a press conference that was initially held in Kyiv and subsequently in Odesa, OIFF president Viktoriya Tigipko, general producer Julia Sinkevych, programme director Anthelme Vidaud, programme consultant Alik Shpyliuk and the head of the Ukrainian State Film Agency, Pylyp Illenko, announced the selection. More than 1,100 films were submitted to take part in the competition programmes.

The festival's International Competition consists of 12 films that will be competing for the OIFF’s Grand Prix – the Golden Duke – and other awards. The majority of the selected films are European co-productions, and among them are: Levan Akin’s And Then We Danced [+leggi anche:

The international jury includes Belgian director Peter Brosens, Hollywood actress of Ukrainian heritage Ivanna Sakhno, director of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival Karel Och, Irish actor Barry Ward and Georgian writer-director-producer Nana Ekvtimishvili.

Meanwhile, the European Documentary Competition, curated by Ukrainian documentarian Serhiy Bukovsky, comprises eight films: Commander Arian [+leggi anche:
