. After finalising the programme this week, FEST also announced the schedule for the FEST - Training Ground master classes and workshops, which can be viewed on the gathering’s website.

The Industry Meetings, a platform that aims to enable and facilitate close connections between industry professionals in order to foster new collaborations, relationships, mentorships and partnerships, will take place throughout the festival.

This year, FEST will also host the first edition of the Director’s Hub, a two-day event that aims to enhance networking opportunities and create a space for an exchange of knowledge between both national and international directors. This event will feature eight interactive sessions, with 20 speakers who will discuss a wide range of topics concerning film directing – from the director’s role to the challenges that he or she might face. One of the programme’s highlights is the “Portuguese New Wave” panel, which will take place on 27 June at 6pm and will feature some of the most relevant, new voices in national cinema, such as Miguel Gonçalves Mendes, Pedro Cabeleira, Duarte Coimbra, Pedro Pinho and Bernardo Lopes. The rest of the programme is already available and can also be viewed on the event’s website.

FEST will place between 24 June and 1 July 2019, in Espinho. The film programme – which features the Golden Lynx Competition (for international first and second features), the Silver Lynx Competition (for international short films), the National Grand Prix Competition and NEXXT (an academic competition), as well as various non-competitive sections – has now been rounded off, and the schedule can be downloaded on FEST’s website.
