The Marché du Film at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival is now in full swing, and the French international sales agents continue to set the pace (see the article and the news) by announcing the arrival of several new titles on their slates.
Bac Films International has kicked off pre-sales for The Man Who Sold His Skin, which will begin shooting in the summer and will be the fourth feature by Kaouther Ben Hania, following Challat of Tunis [+leggi anche:

The cast includes Italy’s Monica Bellucci, Yahya Mahay, Dea Leane, Koen de Bouw and Wim Delvoye, and the plot revolves around a Syrian man who is fleeing the war and who becomes the canvas for an artwork tattooed on his back by a famous US artist. Production duties are being handled by French outfit Tanit Films and Tunisia’s Cinétéléfilms, with Kwassa Films, Laika Films, Twenty Twenty Vision, Metafora Production and Sunnyland Films on board as co-producers.
Les Films du Losange has added the project To the Edge of Sorrow by France’s Michel Spinosa to its international sales and French distribution line-up. This adaptation of Aharon Appelfeld’s book of the same name depicts the misadventures of a Jewish teenager escaping the clutches of the Nazis and joining a group of resistance fighters. The shoot will begin in September, and it is being staged by French outfit Les Films du Worso together with Romania’s Mobra Films, Belgium’s Artémis and Israel’s Metro Communication.
StudioCanal is whetting distributors’ appetites with a huge volume of pre-sales for the animated film Around the World by Samuel Tourneux, a variation on Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne, which the French audiovisual group is producing together with Cottonwood Media (a subsidiary of Federation Entertainment).
Le Pacte will also be in charge of the international sales and French distribution of Tres by Spaniard Juanjo Giménez, which will hinge on a woman suffering from a syndrome in which the brain causes sounds and images to be out of sync. The movie, principal photography for which will begin in November, will be produced by Spanish firms Frida Films and Nadir Films, and co-produced by Paris-based outfit Manny Films and Lithuania’s M-Films.
Lastly, Memento Films International is also racking up pre-sales for My Salinger Year by Philippe Falardeau, the shoot for which is about to kick off, with Sigourney Weaver and Margaret Qualley toplining the cast. The movie is being staged by Canada’s micro_scope, with Ireland’s Parallel Films on board as a co-producer.
