As the preparations for the 69th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival (7-17 February 2019) enter the home stretch, the final make-up of the international jury chaired by Juliette Binoche (see the news) that will hand out the Golden and Silver Bears has been announced.

The famous French actress will be joined by German thesp Sandra Hüller, who has become a familiar face at all the A-list festivals and was particularly lauded for her turn in Maren Ade's Cannes-premiered, multiple award-winning Toni Erdmann [+leggi anche:

Another competition regular also finds himself on the jury: Chilean director Sebastián Lelio, who ran in the Berlinale Competition in 2013 with Gloria [+leggi anche:

scheda film], taking home the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay as well as the Teddy Award.

The UK will be represented on the jury by Trudie Styler, an actress (trained at the Royal Shakespeare Company) and producer (her numerous credits include the cult British movie Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and her company Maven Pictures is presenting two titles at Berlin this year: Guy Nattiv’s Skin in the Panorama section and Andrew Ahn’s Driveways in Generation Kplus). The last two jury members, film critic Justin Chang and Rajendra Roy (chief curator of film at MoMA in New York), come from the USA.

The jury of the GWFF Best First Feature Award, also announced today, consists of French-Senegalese director Alain Gomis (Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize in 2017 for Félicité [+leggi anche:

scheda film]), Chinese director-screenwriter-producer Vivian Qu, and German author and journalist Katja Eichinger. Lastly, the jury for the Glashütte Original - Documentary Award, to be given out this year for the third time, consists of Italian programmer Maria Bonsanti, US director-writer Gregory Nava and Brazilian director Maria Ramos.

This year's Berlinale Cameras, honouring individuals and institutions that have a connection with the festival and have made an extraordinary contribution to the world of filmmaking, will celebrate the work of veteran French filmmaker Agnès Varda (the ceremony will be followed by the screening of Varda by Agnès [+leggi anche:
