The Gijón International Film Festival, which this year is holding its 56^th edition from 16-24 November, has presented the programme for its section dedicated to industry professionals, the FICX Industry Days. After its successful first edition, which unspooled last year with more than 130 accredited delegates and a total of 1,050 people taking part in all of the activities, the gathering once again aims to become a benchmark event for the Asturian, Spanish and international film industries. 

At the industry days (19-22 November), the star attraction will once again be the Push Play Work-in-Progress section, which will present five movies at the editing or post-production stage. The works that have been selected this year are The Perseids [+leggi anche:

The works in progress selected this year will be duking it out for the DCP DELUXE Work-in-Progress Award, which consists of DCP mastering for the winning movie, as well as the newly created OpenECAM Work-in-Progress Award, which allows the victor to use all of the sets, studios and equipment available at the ECAM (Madrid Film School) for post-production purposes.

The industry events will also include a pitching session for the projects chosen to take part in the sixth edition of the Script-writing Lab, organised by the SGAE Foundation. They are Ane & Peio, una historia de amor entre pimientos by Lara Izagirre (screenwriter and director), Billy by Max Lemcke (screenwriter and director), El calipo by Francisco Menchón (screenwriter and director), Dos días de septiembre by Sara Cano (screenwriter), Matar cangrejos by Omar Razzak (screenwriter and director) and Sacrificios necesarios by Pablo Valiente (screenwriter).

In parallel with this, another major part of the programme is the first edition of Be Short Now!, created in conjunction with the Torino Short Film Market, a series of industry meetings focusing on the current state of short-film festivals, with contributions from an array of international speakers. Talks and round-tables about intellectual property in cinema, sales and distribution of films, and presentations by Eurimages and La Incubadora by The Screen, to mention but a few of the highlights, round off this year’s industry events.

The deadline for registering for the professional activities, which are being organised with the support of the Asturias Film Commission, is Wednesday 15 November.
