Projects by Ana Cristina Barragán, Jaume Claret, Meritxell Colell, Irati Gorostidi, Joâo Paulo Miranda and Maximiliano Schonfeld have been chosen for the eighth edition of Ikusmira Berriak, picked from among the 281 that were sent in. (2018), which was premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, and Dúo, which is currently in post-production. Now, she takes on the epic journey of a woman who draws up a sound map of the most remote corners of the Andes in order to discuss mourning, fear, dreams, the legacy of exile and uprootedness.

Another Catalonian director, Jaume Claret (Barcelona, 1998), will be taking part with Strange River – a tale about masculinity in brotherly relationships that morphs to mirror the changes in the Danube’s shape – in the Nest category, where he premiered his short film Her and I (2020). Navarrese filmmaker Irati Gorostidi (Valle de Egües, 1988) will be representing the Basque Autonomous Community when she takes part with Anekumen, a tale about the disenchantment of a group of working-class activists who, in the late-1980s Basque Country, walk out of their factory and form a free-thinking commune in the mountains of Navarre. This will be her first feature, after various experiences in the field of short films and partaking in the Tabakalera Artists’ Space residency.

Meanwhile, Frankenstein – a voyage through Argentinian landscapes and ways of life, detours and "fragile, almost invisible, contours" – is the title of the project by Argentina’s Maximiliano Schonfeld (Crespo, 1982), who opened Horizontes Latinos at the most recent edition of the San Sebastián Film Festival with his third fiction feature, Jesús López [+lire aussi :
