The 11th edition of Polish Days, the New Horizons International Film Festival’s leading industry event, will once again present the majority of the most highly anticipated forthcoming titles from the national film industry. Polish Days will take place from 15-17 August during the 21st New Horizons (12-22 August) in Wrocław. The selection of 20 film projects includes titles at every stage of production, as five completed films, six works in progress and nine projects in development will be showcased.

Aleksandra Terpińska’s feature debut, Other People, “a polyphonic story about isolated people dreaming of love in the big city” (see the news), is one of the five completed films set to be featured at the Polish Days screenings. Another debuting filmmaker, Mateusz Rakowicz, is inspired by 1980s Polish thief Zdzisław Najmrodzki in The Getaway King. Freshly presented at New Horizons' Polish Days Goes to Cannes, Fears by Łukasz Ronduda (A Heart of Love [+lire aussi :

) and Łukasz Gutt tells the story (based on real events) of Daniel, an artist who originates from the countryside and has roots in the Catholic Church, while his relationship with Olek is blossoming in secret. My Wonderful Life is the third feature by Łukasz Grzegorzek, who returns to New Horizons three years after A Coach's Daughter [+lire aussi :

; the film will open the festival and is also featured on the Polish Days line-up. Finally, first-time filmmaker Kuba Michalczuk wraps the selection with his comedy-drama The In-Laws.

Among the six works in progress are Woman on the Roof, the latest project by Anna Jadowska (Wild Roses [+lire aussi :

), about a 60-year-old midwife who tries to rob a bank, armed with a kitchen knife. Imago, the new film by Olga Chajdas (Nina [+lire aussi :

), is a portrait of a rebellious woman, as Poland was going through a political shift (see the interview). Also, Lipstick on the Glass, the third feature by Kuba Czekaj (Baby Bump [+lire aussi :

), sees a woman lose control of her life through an intriguing and mysterious character, and she is led on an adventurous escape to a women’s sect (see the news). The selection is wrapped by the debut features Bread and Salt by Damian Kocur, Broys by Marcin Filipowicz and Roving Woman by Michał Chmielewski.

Finally, some of the projects that are currently in development are helmed by established filmmakers, and the selection includes A Child Made to Order by Patricia Ryczko (I Am REN [+lire aussi :
