fiche film]) by Adrián Silvestre, who also penned the screenplay and edited the movie. The film has been chosen to take part in the Newcomers competition of the 23^rd Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival, a gathering set to unspool from 24 June-4 July. The picture will have its international premiere at the event. While still at the project stage, it took part in Sofia Meetings, La Pedrera D'A Film Festival Lab, ZINEGOAK WIP and Abycine Lanza.

According to its synopsis, just like the Earth itself, our innards are made up of different layers and strata, which together serve to shape our identity and tell our life story. Exactly which circumstances have a bearing on this process and turn us into who we are today? Together, six trans women travel to a small town in León, where they will explore incredible landscapes, as well as the ins and outs of their own personalities. Seeking answers to what unites them as a group, they will learn how to cope with their differences. Sedimentos is a tender and entertaining story about empathy, individuality and the need for belonging; a present-day X-ray that both takes a glance back at the past and looks to the future, celebrating people’s extraordinary potential to be unique and incomparable.

In his forays into film, so far Silvestre (Valencia, 1981) has explored the boundaries between reality and fiction, placing real-life people alongside professional actors and actresses. The Objects of Love, his feature debut, picked up prizes such as the FIPRESCI Award at the Seville European Film Festival and the Rizoma de Cine Award.

Sedimentos is a production by Adrián Silvestre Films and Testamento, a company founded in 2014 by filmmaker Agustí Villaronga and film and theatre producer Javier Pérez Santana (among the firm’s other titles, we should highlight The Belly of the Sea [+lire aussi :

fiche film], the latest work by the Majorcan director, which has just scooped the Critics’ Award at the 43^rd Moscow Film Festival, will get an airing at IFFR in June and will compete in the official section of the upcoming Málaga Film Festival). Its sales agent is US firm The Film Collaborative.
