Les Kids Kino Industry Talks reviennent, le regard braqué sur les plateformes de streaming

Cet article est disponible en anglais.

In 2021, Kids Kino Industry (KKI) is organising a series of monthly Industry Talks that are an extension of the weekly Inspirational Webinars which ran last year. As in previous editions, the aim is to create a meeting place for European professionals where they can exchange their ideas and experiences, and further develop new content for children.

For the first KKI Talk of the year, which runs on 25 January from 3 pm-4 pm CET, the topic is “Unravel Streamers – What Producers Need to Know”, and it will be available on Zoom for registered users only (click here to register). As always, signing up is free, and even if some people might be unable to attend the live broadcast, registration also guarantees that they will receive the recording of the talk via e-mail afterwards.

Hosted by Viola Gabrielli, head of programme at Kids Kino Industry, and Katarzyna Janiak, industry project manager at the New Horizons Association, the talk focuses on streaming platforms, including the major and independent players, and their role, especially in the current period as they become market leaders, consolidate their position and expand content libraries. The webinar aims to get the lowdown on the platforms and explore what they want, how children’s media providers can connect with them and place their content, and how to navigate between the independent streamers and find the right one.

The speakers invited are Richard Cooper, research director at Ampere Analysis (UK), and Michael Gubbins, analyst, journalist and consultant at SampoMedia (UK), and the discussion will be moderated by Cineuropa journalist Marta Bałaga.

With nearly two decades’ worth of experience, Cooper covers the film and TV content markets, and through Ampere Analysis, he contributes an analytical research-based overview of the major SVoD services operating in the Central European and Polish markets, examining streamers’ strategic developments and possible content preferences for this year. Furthermore, Gubbins, who has been working in the field for more than 15 years, is also an advisor to Europa Cinemas, EUROVOD and Europa Distribution, and he has written a major report on independent VoD. His business, SampoMedia, captures the progress, potential and aspirations of an emerging, independent future European VoD sector that is no longer reduced to being a mere digital aggregator.
