by debutant filmmaker Emmanuelle Nicot, co-produced by Julie Esparbes (Hélicotronc, Belgium) and Delphine Schmit (Tripode Productions, France). The jury was “impressed by the bold and original approach to the topic of incest and was deeply moved by this intense journey of liberation full of hope”. The ARTE Kino International Prize, valued at €6,000, was given to Ebba by Norwegian first-time director Johanna Pyykkö, produced by Verona Meier (Ape&Bjørn).

In the Drama Pitching Forum, the ViacomCBS International Studios Award went to the series Miss Fallaci Takes America, written and directed by Alessandra Gonnella, and produced by Gianluca Curti and Cosetta Lagani for Minerva Pictures, in co-production with Redstring. Incidentally, Miriam Leone has confirmed her interest in playing the role of Oriana Fallaci. In its deliberation, the jury mentioned: “The project stood out on account of its ability to celebrate female empowerment through the story of a woman with a strong and fascinating character, despite her own dispute”. The jury also decided to award a Special Mention to Cult, produced by Notorious Pictures, and created by Francesco Patierno and Sergio Nazzaro.

For the third year running, National Geographic was the sponsor of the main award in the MIA DOC Pitching Forum, and this time, the NAT GEO Award for Best Pitch went to Darkside, The Quest for a Dark Matter Detection by Matias Guerra and Matteo Corbi, as it was deemed to be a project that can combine great artistic and productive qualities and significant commercial potential.
