) is to play the problematic neighbour in the feature, which will also explore subjects such as gentrification and social inequality in Berlin. The cast of the upcoming film also includes Aenne Schwarz, Rike Eckermann and Gode Benedix.

Based on an idea by Daniel Brühl, the script for Next Door was penned by Daniel Kehlmann, with whom Brühl previously collaborated on Wolfgang Becker’s 2015 adaptation of the novelist’s bestselling book Me and Kaminski [+lire aussi :

Filming, which started in March and was interrupted because of the COVID-19 pandemic, restarted in May, finally wrapping in mid-June.

Next Door is being produced by Amusement Park Film’s Malte Grunert (the company is co-owned by Daniel Brühl, Malte Grunert and Klaus Dohle), in co-production with Gretchenfilm, Erfttal Film & Fernsehproduktion and Warner Bros Pictures. The film was backed by the German Federal Film Board (FFA), the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF) and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

World sales are being handled by Warner Bros Entertainment, and the theatrical release is scheduled for 2021.
