It is early morning and the sea of Ostia is calm. A man knocks at a lady’s door: he will sell her a watch. It is also early in the morning when, a few days later, a young philosophy assistant is left out of the group chosen for the exhumation of Nietzsche's body. The Predators [+lire aussi :

The protagonists are two seemingly incompatible families: the Pavone and the Vismara. The former is bourgeois and intellectual, while the latter is proletarian and fascist. Two opposite forces that share the same home, Rome. A banal incident will make the two poles meet, and the madness of a 25-year-old boy will reveal that everyone has a secret and no one is what they seem.

Produced by Domenico Procacci and Laura Paolucci for Fandango with Rai Cinema, The Predators stars Massimo Popolizio, Manuela Mandracchia, Giorgio Montanini, Pietro Castellitto himself, Anita Caprioli, Nando Paone, and Antonio Gerardi among others. The cinematography is handled by Carlo Rinaldi, the editing by Gianluca Scarpa, the set design by Luca Merlini, and the costumes by Isabella Rizza.

The film has been selected in competition in the Orizzonti section of the 2020 Venice Film Festival. “We are deeply happy” said the director, who also wrote the film’s script. “The consequences of the pandemic have destroyed many certainties, opening the doors to a new clash between cultures and worldviews, a fundamental premise for any artistic era. There is something warlike about this new dawn at the Venice Film Festival, and being part of it is a source of pride."

The Predators will be distributed in Italy via 01, while international sales are handled by Fandango Sales.
