For the first-time writer-director, Bratislava is a city of thick lines between past and present, and public and private. She focuses on the rhythm, atmosphere and ordinary stories of the city's inhabitants, one of whom is a narrator, of sorts, for the film, with his own poetry. "I have always loved those timeless, urban symphonies by great filmmakers of the past, and they are the apparent inspiration behind this film," says Sliepková.
Producer Barbara Janišová Feglová, of HITCHHIKER Cinema, adds: "As a post-socialist metropolis, Bratislava has been developing very fast but discontinuously. This is why we are convinced that there's a unique opportunity to capture this transformation before it becomes a huge, modern and totally anonymous city."
The team is close to the final cut, and they expect to complete the project by the end of August. They are looking for a post-production partner and a sales agent.
