An anthology of horror stories, all introduced by a host in the guise of a sinister gravedigger. This is how Vampus Horror Tales is billed – a film that sees Saturnino García presenting each of its constituent parts. After the shoot was interrupted by the health crisis prompted by the coronavirus, the Basque-Leonese actor (Abracadabra [+lire aussi :

As well as directing the Vampus segment, Víctor Matellano (Regresa el Cepa [+lire aussi :

Filming is taking place on Gran Canaria and in Madrid, and it will soon shift to Montevideo (Uruguay). The cast of Vampus Horror Tales is rounded off by Nacho Guerreros, Félix Gómez, Montse Plá, Elena Furiase, Diego Arjona, Erika Sanz, Dunia Rodríguez, Luis Hacha, Daniela Dardanelli, Almudena León, Rafa Rodrigo, David M Santana, Marian Clar, Gus Cantolla, Alberto Rivas, Marina Romero and Sergio Morcillo. It boasts the involvement of special guests José Lifante, África Gozalbes and Miguel Molina, special appearances by Lone Fleming and Antonio Mayans, and the voices of Héctor Cantolla and Víctor Clavijo.

With screenplays written by Yolanda García Serrano, Victoria Vázquez, Ignacio López-Vacas, Isaac Berrocal, Piter Moreira, Diego Arjona and Víctor Matellano, the film introduces us to the sinister character of Mr Fettes, a one-of-a-kind cemetery warden who harbours way too many secrets, given that he exhumes whomever he has buried earlier in the day – with unspeakable motives. His nickname is Vampus, and he is keen on horror comic books; he will therefore lead the viewer by the hand, into four horrible love stories that unfold in a theme park, a wedding hall, a house nestled in the mountains and a world plagued by a strange pandemic.

"Fantasy and horror fans have always thoroughly enjoyed feature films in anthology form. There’s a long tradition of films of this type, which are still being made today, but not so much in Spain, and that’s why we thought it would be interesting to make our own contribution. Following in the footsteps of the movies produced by Amicus, and titles indebted to comic books such as Tales from the Crypt and Creepy, with their host/presenter character introducing the stories, our proposition combines mystery, humour and horror," states producer Erika Elizalde, who took part in the Berlinale Talents Campus programme in 2015.

Vampus Horror Tales – which is being shot in black and white, and in CinemaScope format, in order to resemble the popular fantasy classics that it pays tribute to – is a feature being produced by Argot Films.
