Minerva Pictures is taking part in the #iorestoacasa (“I’m staying at home”) campaign by making 100 films available online, free of charge. Following on from the closure of cinemas and the directive that everyone stay in their homes in a bid to counter the spread of Coronavirus, the Italian production and distribution company (whose most recent titles include Hammamet [+lire aussi :

by Gianni Amelio) is, until 3 April, making a free, digital film library available to all users of its video-on-demand platform The Film Club: 100 titles ranging from arthouse and genre films to classic, cult and rare works, to be watched over and over again from the comfort of Italian homes.

“As citizens, first and foremost, rather than just producers or digital publishers, all of us here at Minerva Pictures wish to contribute in our own small way towards helping Italians at home who want to watch a few good films and enjoy a few hours peace. This is something we can do and that we are doing”, declared the company’s CEO Gianluca Curti.

These 100 titles available free of charge include Live Flesh by Pedro Almodóvar, the second of the three films by the much missed director of Don’t Be Bad [+lire aussi :

- Claudio Caligari - The Scent of the Night, cult blasts from the past along the lines of The Lawnmower Man, Italian comedy classics starring Alberto Sordi and Totò, and Let’s Hope It’s A Girl by Mario Monicelli. Those in Italy wishing to access these films must first register their details here.
