Between 3 and 8 December 2019, Tarragona is playing host to the 19th edition of REC – the Tarragona International Film Festival, a gathering that, over the course of its existence so far, has been able to successfully combine fostering brand-new projects with screenings of films that have a distinct arthouse and indie flavour. Headed up by Xavier García Puerto, the festival shouts its environmental militancy from the rooftops, and this is evident from the design of its poster as well as from the content of the Emergencias section (where there is no lack of impressive titles such as the Goya-winning documentary Delicate Balance [+lire aussi :

This year, the RECLab’s Primer Test — the industry sidebar of the Tarragona REC Festival, organised by the Play Acción Cultural association — is presenting seven projects: Pedra Pàtria by Macià Florit Campins (Elsabeth Producciones), La Muga by Alba Bresolí and Antía Álzarez, El Riu by Tuixén Benet (with production duties entrusted to Isis Velasco), ¿Qué hicimos mal? by Liliana Torres (Matriuska Producciones, Avalon and Miss Wasabi – see the news), A Stormy Night [+lire aussi :

by David Moragas (Oberon Media), El rastro firme by Fernando Gómez-Luna (Omen Producciones), which snagged the REC – Festival la Alternativa – Mentoring Projects Award, and Transoceánicas by Meritxell Colell and Lucía Vassallo (Intropia Media).

On the other hand, RECLab and MAFIZ (Málaga Festival Industry Zone) have signed a partnership agreement for the next two editions, the aim being to bolster the promotion and funding of projects taking part in Primer Test, as well as in Málaga Work in Progress, the space that MAFIZ devotes to giving a final push to enable the completion of movies at the post-production stage.
