During the tenth Odesa International Film Festival (12-20 July), the gathering’s industry section, Film Industry Office, will run from 16-19 July, and as is the case every year, it will showcase everything that is up and coming in Ukrainian cinema via an array of events. Furthermore, the section is changing location: this year, all of the proceedings will be held in the Londonskaya Hotel.

Starting with the projects that are at the early-development stage and are being produced or co-produced with Ukraine, 13 projects have been selected. Among them are the upcoming features by Roman Bondarchuk (Volcano [+lire aussi :

Meanwhile, in the Work in Progress section, 12 completed feature-length films will be presented by their producers and directors. Some of the highlights in the selection include the new movies by seasoned filmmaker Roman Balayan and Georgian director Levan Koguashvili (Blind Dates [+lire aussi :

The last competitive section is EastSeries, in which six drama series have been selected to participate. It is organised by the Odesa IFF with ScripTeast, along with Star Media, the biggest international film company in Ukraine, and Series Mania. Some of the participants are Ukrainian director Marysia Nikitiuk (When the Trees Fall [+lire aussi :

In addition, the Odesa Film Industry Office is organising a Creative Europe Day: on 17 July, the programme’s representatives from Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia will offer an overview of the help that Creative Europe can provide from the point of view of non-EU member states. The specific example of Serbia will also be examined in detail.

On the same day, the Cinema Conference: Backstage will be held for the second year, and at this edition, the main topic up for discussion will be co-production trends in the film industry. The participants will first discuss new co-production opportunities, while the second part of the conference will be more focused on critical thinking and feedback.

Finally, a delegation of Lithuanian film professionals, including representatives of the Lithuanian Film Centre, producers and the team behind the film Sasha Was Here [+lire aussi :

by Ernestas Jankauskas, which is in the OIFF’s competition, will aim to strengthen the partnership between the Baltic country and Ukraine. During a discussion entitled “Cooperation Opportunities with Lithuania”, the tax-rebate scheme (see the news) will be presented, and the producers will share their experience of working with the Ukrainian film industry, breaking down the co-production Frost [+lire aussi :
