The 54th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival will welcome award-winning US actress Julianne Moore, who will be presented with a Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema. Moore will also take advantage of the occasion to present her latest film, After the Wedding, along with her husband, writer-director Bart Freundlich. Besides After the Wedding, the largest festival in the Czech Republic will screen The Myth of Fingerprints as part of an homage to both Moore and Freundlich. The pair will be joined at the opening ceremony by Billy Crudup, who stars alongside Moore in After the Wedding.

Karlovy Vary will also honour US actress Patricia Clarkson, who will receive the Crystal Globe for Outstanding Artistic Contribution to World Cinema at the festival’s closing ceremony. She won a Golden Globe for her performance in the HBO series Sharp Objects, which was introduced at the previous edition of the gathering. She will be presenting one of the recent movies that she’s starred in, Learning to Drive, directed by Isabel Coixet. In addition, Festival President’s Award honouree and Academy Award winner Casey Affleck is set to return to the Czech spa town to introduce his film Light of My Life, which he directed, wrote, produced and stars in.

The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival has already unveiled the members of its Grand Jury, which will consist of Czech screenwriter-author Štěpán Hulík, who was behind the Burning Bush miniseries and Wasteland series; Palestinian writer-director-producer Annemarie Jacir; Ukrainian director-scriptwriter-producer Sergei Loznitsa; Greek actress Angeliki Papoulia; and French film writer and festival organiser Charles Tesson. The East of the West competition will be weighed up by Ukrainian producer, distributor and festival organiser Denis Ivanov; the director of The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki [+lire aussi :

, Juho Kuosmanen; Czech director-screenwriter Tomáš Pavlíček; Greek film sales company representative Ioanna Stais; and Lithuanian producer Dagnė Vildžiūnaite. Meanwhile, the winner of the documentary competition will be decided by Argentinian filmmaker Gastón Solnicki, Swiss producer Aline Schmid and Austrian photographer-filmmaker Andreas Horvath.

The talk-show satire Late Night, starring Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling, will bring the 54th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival to a close.
