The fifth edition of the MIA, the first Italian market to bring together every segment of the audiovisual industry (Film | Drama Series | Doc), will unspool in Rome from 16-20 October. The MIA has announced that the deadline for feature-film projects to sign up for the Co-production Market and Pitching Forum is 29 June. To be eligible, the projects must have a main producer and a director already attached, a provisional budget and a script in the English language – and preferably, 25% of the budget should already be in place. The project can be at any stage of development, but the shoot must begin after the 2019 edition of the MIA. It has been confirmed that the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award will be up for grabs, a cash prize of €20,000 handed out by an international jury on behalf of the Council of Europe’s fund for the co-production, distribution, exhibition and digitisation of European cinematic works. This is thus a clear sign of Eurimages’ recognition of the Rome-based gathering as one of the most effective co-production markets in Europe.

“The MIA is the Italian, European and international industry’s newest tool,” remarks market director Lucia Milazzotto, “which produces, distributes and finances high-profile movies, drama series and documentaries with a global reach. The MIA is an event on the rise; it is flexible and sensitive to the ever-changing needs of the sector, and at the same time, it is highly focused, convergent and cost-efficient.
