, a journey into the dreamlike world of electronic music and experimental sound, is set to celebrate its world premiere as part of the Burning Light Competition at Visions du Réel 2019.

In The Sound Is Innocent, Ožvold guides the viewer through a dreamlike space while introducing us to six extraordinary musical personalities: Francois Bonnet, Steve Goodman, Julian Rohrhuber, John Richards, Hannes Hoelzl and Albert Decampo. Each of them sheds light on the crucial element in music creation – the relationship between the artist and the instrument, between the human and the machine.

Steve Goodman, aka Kode9, wonders whether there can be music without humans. John Richards, founder of Dirty Electronics, values cooperation between musicians over and above digital creation. Live coder Julian Rohrhuber sees music programmers as poets behind the computer. Their unique approaches to musical creation prove to us that electronic music is something you should know more about, and that in many ways, it can be perceived as a metaphor for today’s rapidly changing, globalised world.

The Sound Is Innocent was produced by Kristýna Michálek Květov for Cinémotif Films (Czech Republic) in co-production with Films de Force Majeure (France), Punkchart Films (Slovakia), UPP, Soundsquare, Czech Television, RTVS and Lyon Capitale TV. The film was supported by the Czech Film Fund, the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, the PACA region, SACEM and the Procirep-Angoa, and was developed during workshops at Ex Oriente 2016 and Eurodoc 2017.
