Calibre producers Clark and Griffin said: “This is Wellington Films’ first Michael Powell Award and we are thrilled it is with Matt and his debut film, Calibre, which launched beautifully at EIFF. We thank all our funders, and of course Netflix, for believing in us and the project and we look forward to making many more films with Matt who is a proven strong and visionary voice on the global stage.”

The relationship between Palmer and Wellington Films originated in 2006, introduced via Film4 for Cinema Extreme, resulting in the 2007 BAFTA Scotland nominated short film Island, and Palmer’s second short, The Gas Man, produced in 2014 by Clark and Griffin for Rankin’s Collabor8te. Calibre was co-produced by Wendy Griffin and Isabelle Georgeaux of Pont Neuf Productions, and financed by Creative Scotland, Creative England, Tip-Top Productions, Head Gear Films, Metrol Technology, Ingenious and Scope Pictures, with international sales handled by Beta Cinema.
