CEE Animation au stand MEDIA du MIFA d'Annecy

Cet article est disponible en anglais.

For the first time, a Creative Europe MEDIA Umbrella Stand will be added to the mix at the International Animation Film Market (MIFA), the main event in the world of European animation, which is taking place at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival from 12 to 15 June.

Under this umbrella, large numbers of participants belonging to CEE Animation will be gathered together, a brand which was officially established last year when the MEDIA desks of 16 Central and Eastern Europe countries, plus members from three non-MEDIA countries, jointly signed the Ljubljana Accord (read story here). This association, which evolved out of the Višegrad Film Forum, will be fronted at the Film Market by 30 companies from the region.

42 industry professionals (producers, directors, representatives of national associations, film funds, schools and festivals) from 11 countries of the region will travel to MIFA so as to present their projects and their companies. These include some of the winners from the last Višegrad Animation Forum which took place in Třeboň in May, such as the feature-film project Of Unwanted Things and People, a co-production between Czech Republic's MAUR Film, Slovakia's Artichoke, Slovenia's ZVVIKS, and Poland's WJT. The film is directed by four animators from the four respective countries: David Súkup, Ivana Laučíková, Leon Vidmar, Agata Gorządek.

The Film Market will also feature a good number of films hailing from CEE Animation countries: 23 short films are competing in various strands (including Marta Pajek's Cannes title III, Berlinale Short Untravel by Ana Nedeljković and Nikola Majdak, and Veljko Popović's Animafest Zagreb-awarded Cyclists), and two feature films will be screened out of competition: Jan Svankmajer's latest film Insect [+lire aussi :
