The Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival's Emerging Producers is a promotional and educational project that brings together talented documentary film producers from EU countries. At its fourth edition, it presented 17 producers from the EU and one from the guest country, Colombia. Here Cineuropa profiles the most prolific of the 18 participants. 

The line-up included Antra Gaile from Latvia, with production company Mistrus Media, best known for Over the Roads, Over the River, an omnibus film directed by Audrius Stonys, Rainer Komers, Bettina Henkel, Sergei Loznitsa, Jon Bang Carlsen, Jaak Kilmi and Ivars Seleckis. Gaile is currently in pre-production with the new project by Kilmi, People from Nowhere, a personal story about a Cold War double agent’s daughter.

Tomáš Michálek from the Czech Republic already had two films playing in Jihlava's Czech Joy competition this year: The Dangerous World of Doctor Doleček by Kristýna Bartošová and The Czech Way by Martin Kohout. With his company, MasterFilm, he is in the middle of production with a new film called The Wolf of Royal Vineyard Street [+lire aussi :

, and has announced the new feature-length documentary Tusta, directed by Andrej Korovljev, for summer 2016. It is about the leader of legendary Croatian punk band KUD Idijoti, who passed away recently.

by Måns Månsson. Now she is working on two hybrid films, Borders by Ionut Piturescu, selected for the Cinéfondation Atelier at Cannes 2015, and Crater by Tilde Juul.

Swiss producer Caroline Velan is known for I Am Femen [+lire aussi :

by Alain Margot and Salto Mortale by Guillaume Kozakiewiez. With her company, Caravel Productions, she is preparing six projects, including a science-fiction comedy, Swiss Army vs Martians.

Estonia's Max Tuula works with subversive Russian filmmakers and has so far made two films co-directed by Pavel Kostomarov and Aleksandr Rastorguev: I Don't Love You and The Term. Now in production is the documentary Free Oleh Sentsov, through his company, Marx Film.

Danuta Krasnohorska of Warsaw-based CoLab Pictures made three films in 2012, including Piotr Mularuk's Yuma [+lire aussi :

, and is in development with Love Express. The Strange Case of Walerian Borowczyk, about one of the most puzzling career twists in 20th-century European cinema.

Denmark-born, Greenland-raised Emile Hertling Péronard is known for last year's Berlinale title Sumé – The Sound of a Revolution [+lire aussi :

. Among the upcoming projects by his company is a new film by Jørgen LethInto the Northern Light.

Austrian producer Karin C Berger of Golden Girls Film, known for Everyday Rebellion and this year's One of Us [+lire aussi :

, has lined up no fewer than eight projects, including the Sarajevo CineLink title Korida and What's Wrong With a Free Lunch? by Christian Tod.

by Bálint Szimler in this year's Jihlava Between the Seas competition, and he is working on Songs of the Land, a music-themed docu-series with each episode to be filmed in a different ex-Soviet country.

Finally, Romania's Irina Malcea, whose latest films include ­The Wellness Process by Marius Iacob, has various projects on the cards, ranging from Ionut Piturescu’s Borders (together with fellow Emerging Producers participant Rønde) to feature film 1985 by Bogdan Muresanu, the winner of the Connecting Cottbus Coco Award.
