TO MATTHIEU

by Xavier Beauvois

synopsis

Francis works at the same factory as his sons Matthieu and Eric. When Francis is dismissed for smoking during working hours, Matthieu attempts to stir the workers, and particularly his brother, into action. Shortly afterwards, Francis dies suddenly. Matthieu, convinced that his father was driven to suicide at the thought of being unable to find a job at his age and with barely a qualification to his name, has only one idea on his mind: revenge. The first part of his plan involves luring his boss’s wife into bed.
