On Monday in Ile-de-France, Alex Lutz started shooting Une nuit, his third feature film as a filmmaker after Le talent de mes amis [+lee también:

The director (who added a Lumière award to his 2019 César for Best Actor and will be seen in 2023 in En plein feu and Connemara) shares the lead with Karin Viard (recently seen in Tokyo Shaking and An Ordinary Mother, and to be seen in the autumn in Maria rêve and Sage-Homme and next year in Magnificat and Madame de Sévigné).
Written by Alex Lutz with Karin Viard and Hadrien Bichet, the script begins in a crowded underground train station. Following a jostle, a man and a woman argue, under the amused gaze of the other passengers. Their oratorical joust is loud and charming. A few moments later, in the corridors of a station, the two strangers awkwardly make love in a photo booth. Back on the surface, they are about to separate... Well, goodbye, anyway... We're not going to spend the night saying goodbye! ... But why not?
Produced by Didar Domehri for Maneki Films, Une nuit is co-produced by Belgian outfit Versus Production (Jacques-Henri Bronckart). Karin Viard and Alex Lutz are also associate producers. Pre-bought by Canal+, Ciné+ and C8, the feature also benefits from the support of the CNC, Procirep and Angoa, the Belgian Federal Government's Tax Shelter and Inver Tax Shelter, as well as Sofica Cofinova, SG Image and Indéfilms. French distribution and international sales will be handled by StudioCanal.
For the record, Maneki Films recently co-produced two films unveiled last month at Cannes, respectively in Un Certain Regard and in the Fortnight: Godland [+lee también:

The Paris-based company has also just received support from the Franco-German co-production support fund for Suzannah Mirghani's Cotton Queen (led in majority by Strange Bird and in which Philistine Films is also involved).
