in the presence of its protagonist Fanny Ardant. The International Competition jury, composed of directors Chad Gracia and Inka Achté, and sales professional Arianna Castoldi, singled out After a Revolution for the following reason: “A powerful depiction of a family, of politics and of war, this film tells an important story without heroes or villains, winners or losers, goodies or baddies. Exquisitely captured moments of beauty, courage and resilience make it a masterpiece on the senseless horror of war and on the capacity of everyday human beings to survive and move beyond such horror”. The same jury selected Máté Kőrösi’s Divas [+lee también:

as the International Competition’s Best First Film, “an authentic and timeless film about growing up, which stood out to us as fresh and original”, whilst assigning a Special Mention to Robin Hunzinger’s Ultraviolette and the Blood-Spitters Gang. Divas also scooped the Young Critics Award, decided upon by a jury composed of students hailing from the University of Bologna’s DAMS and CITEM degree programmes.

The Biografilm Italy Competition jury (composed of editor Francesca Sofia Allegra, curator and producer Antonella Di Nocera and screenwriter and director Anita Rivaroli) crowned I Never Went Back as their winner, “for its ability to use a personal story to explore a relationship which gets various generations of women talking by way of a natural and very specific approach”, and “for the simplicity with which the director puts herself on the line in a bitter and powerful story”. The prize for Best First Film within the Italian competition went to Tiziano Locci’s medium-length work The Way Daddy Rides, since “this work sees the young director declaring his approach, while his solutions, however instinctive, demonstrate courage and skill”. A Special Mention was bestowed upon Marcella Piccinini’s Il canto delle cicale.

The Biografilm Europe Beyond Borders | SNCCI Italian Critics’ Prize, awarded to the Best Film in the Europe Beyond Borders section by a jury composed of film critics Emanuele Di Nicola, Frédéric Pascali and Massimo Lechi, was won by Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson’s Beautiful Beings [+lee también:

“for its ability to bring out the harshness and beauty of youth by way of unsettling narrative choices which are only seemingly contradictory, and for the winning force of its directorial approach”.

Last but not least, the Unseen Italy Ucca Prize, which is awarded to the Best Film in the Biografilm Italy Competition and which consists of a distribution award for its participation in “Unseen Italy: A Travelling Show of Cinema du Réel”, in addition to 1,000 Euros, went to Red Sky At Night [+lee también:
