Cineuropa se une a Talking Shorts para presentaros lo mejor de los cortometrajes europeos

Cineuropa is partnering with the online short-film magazine Talking Shorts in order to strengthen its own coverage of European short films and to provide such movies with some much-needed visibility.

Talking Shorts was founded with the goal of making shorts more visible and in order to create a wider discourse about the art form, closely connected to the international film-festival landscape. It strives to connect the most important festivals around the world, the filmmakers, the audiences and a younger generation who might not yet know what short films are or can do. Besides in-depth film reviews, interviews and articles, it publishes videos and podcasts on specific topics for a professional audience under the BE SHORT NOW! umbrella.

Cineuropa will be republishing some of the texts by Talking Shorts, thus widening its European film coverage to include the best of its short-film scene.

On the collaboration, Niels Putman, film critic, curator and editor-in-chief of Talking Shorts, mentioned: “Talking Shorts is excited to be partnering up with Cineuropa to strengthen the European branch of our coverage. As the new kid on the block, we feel very much supported by many different partners, including festivals and other media outlets. It emphasises our belief that short films deserve more and better coverage and that writers providing said content should be paid fairly. We’re looking forward to keeping on growing and expanding our reach, in the most democratic and collective way, beyond many different kinds of borders."

Furthermore, Talking Shorts is looking for writers who are particularly interested in the short-film format, focusing on reviews, interviews and articles (the form of and approach to which are flexible). You can find more information and all the details you need to apply here. The deadline is 31 March.

Talking Shorts is an initiative by Filmfest Dresden, Vienna Shorts, Short Waves Festival, NISI MASA and BE SHORT NOW! Its supporting members include some of the most important short-film festivals in Europe: Encounters Short Film & Animation Festival, Short Film Festival Leuven, International Short Film Festival Winterthur, Glasgow Short Film Festival, Lviv Short Film Festival Wiz-Art, Hamburg Short Film Festival, Leiden Shorts, Go Short, Tampere Film Festival and Uppsala Short Film Festival, as well as Montreal's Festival du nouveau cinéma.
