Nace la Compañía Belga de Profesionales de Efectos Visuales

Este artículo está disponible en inglés.

Already mooted a few years ago, the Belgian Society for Visual Effects Professionals – BVX is intended to be a platform that defends the interests of artists in the visual effects sector, so as to support those studios that have joined up and help them to convey their wishes and requests to official bodies.

It has to be said that for the last few years, Belgian studios have been building up a great reputation internationally. The various regional and tax incentives put in place to attract foreign shoots to Belgium have enabled Belgian studios to carve out a place on the international map of audiovisual post-production experts, to such an extent that today, certain foreign producers call on their partners even outside the context of the dedicated financing that can be provided by the Tax Shelter or the regional funds (Wallimage, Screen Flanders and screen.brussels).

The seven studios (Ace Image Factory, Flow, Nozon, Arid Studio, Umedia, benuts and Titles) that so far form part of the association (other studios have been invited to join) are at the cutting edge of the field.

Today, the BVX intends to organise regular meetings and events where VFX artists can meet up and network. Well aware of the temptation to flee abroad that its artists can experience, enticed by the international VFX hotspots, particularly in North America, the BVX aims to work hard to highlight the excellence and the variety of the VFX work carried out in Belgium, as well as the sector’s drawing power.

The association’s ambition is obviously to constitute one voice representing the studios and artists when dealing with other Belgian professional organisations, but also with the authorities or content creators, by showing them what it’s possible to achieve.

And eventually, it hopes to contribute to bringing about some kind of professional recognition through the creation of an appropriate award, at both the Magrittes and the Ensors.
