On its 15th investment session, screen.brussels has awarded €1,1 million for the production of 13 Belgian majority projects.

Among the various feature films supported, we find Chiennes de vie, the new film by Xavier Seron who we last saw several years ago, wielding his singular, successful first feature Death by Death [+lee también:

Chiennes de vie consists of three overlapping dog stories which paint a humorous portrait of human beings, with their doubts, their dreams, their loneliness and their search for love. The project has been selected to receive support in the form of a lightweight production grant accorded by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation Film and Audiovisual Centre (as was Losers Revolution [+lee también:

by Eve Duchemin, who is signing her name to her first full-length fiction film following the success of En Bataille, the documentary which sowed the seed for this project and which won a Magritte trophy in 2017. The film follows in the footsteps of three prisoners who get to spend a weekend together, on the outside, for the very first time. They have 48 hours to find their feet, 48 hours to reconnect with their loved ones and 48 hours to make up for lost time. The title is produced by Kwassa Films in Belgium and is co-produced by Les Films de l’Autre Cougar in France.

Dominique Deruddere, meanwhile, a Belgian director who divides his time between Belgium and the US and who notably directed Flying Love [+lee también:

, telling the story of Jennifer Rogiers, a young virtuoso pianist who takes part in the famous Queen Elizabeth Competition. The movie is produced by Bart Van Langendonck on behalf of Savage Film.

The last full-length work on the receiving end of support is Winterrreise by English director Alex Helfrecht (The White King [+lee también:

). A musical film without dialogue and inspired by Schubert’s cycle of 24 songs, the title is produced by Rumble Fish (France), Pandora Filmproduktion (Germany) and 12Co. Filmproduktions (Germany), whilst being steered in Belgium by Wrong Men. John Malkovich and Gaspard Ulliel are announced to be among the cast of this picture which crosses the divide between animation and live action.

Jostling alongside Winterreise, in the category of projects receiving aid, are a variety of works showcasing the digital form, including two webseries intitled Frangines (live action) and Ante Chris (animation), and the virtual reality production The Werewolf Experience

The Fund is also throwing its weight behind the new series Des gens bien from the team behind The Break, as well as four documentaries and an animated feature film, Elli, by Jesper Moller and Piet De Ryckers.
