The plot revolves around two women from opposite ends of society. Malou (Helena af Sandeberg) is a business woman from Lidingö, obsessed with social status, but whose latest venture has gone wrong. When she comes across a bag containing 47 million Swedish crowns from a robbery, she opens a bakery to launder the money. Meanwhile, Liana (Bianca Kronlöf) is a debt-ridden single mother, left in the lurch by her boyfriend who got caught for the same robbery. Everyone is convinced that he hid the money, and Liana is drawn into the hunt for the hidden loot against her will. The two women’s paths will cross in a way that they could never have imagined.

The cast is enriched by the presence of actors Eva Melander, Philip Oros, Sunil Munshi, Lena Nilsson and Johan Hedenberg. Moreover, DoPs Ita Zbroniec-Zajt and Joe Maples are in charge of the series’ cinematography. In a press release, Akin said: “This is a dream project that we have been working on for many years. We are so happy to finally start shooting and that Dough will soon meet its audience.”

Dough is being produced by Lisa Berggren Eyre and Martin Söder for Stockholm-based firm Nexiko, whilst Lars Beckung will serve as the executive producer. France’s Newen Distribution is currently handling its international sales. The series is set to premiere in autumn 2021.
