The leading European writing residence for cinema and fiction for several years, the Groupe Ouest has decided, despite the current health crisis, to maintain the launch of its 2020 Annual Selection and to reveal the list of auteurs selected in the new promotion of the nine month residency. After wondering about the need to postpone the working sessions to another date, the Groupe Ouest chose to adapt itself to the needs of the story makers which the film industry will need more than ever tomorrow, opting to gather the auteurs via the Internet, finding the best digital platforms allowing the circulation of ideas.
Standing out from this 2020 Selection is Belgian filmmaker Lukas Dhont, whose feature debut, Girl [+lee también:

Also standing out is Malian filmmaker Daouda Coulibaly, revealed in Toronto in 2016 with his feature debut, the hard-hitting Wùlu [+lee también:

Among the selected few are also the Franco-Polish filmmaker Jan Czarlewski, winner of the Golden Leopard and the Silver Leopard in 2011 and 2012 in Locarno with his short films L'Ambassadeur & moi and L'Amour Bègue before he worked on Polskie 100 lat, the biggest documentary of historical archive made in Poland since 1989. The director will be participating in Groupe Ouest’s writing laboratory with Welcome in North Korea, which he is co-writing with Carlotta Verny.
For the record, among the auteurs previously supported by the Annual Selection were Houda Benyamina and Romain Compingt with Divines [+lee también:
